Thank you to everyone who joined us for Troop 18’s 85th Anniversary Luncheon on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church Social Hall in North Hollywood, CA. Celebrating this milestone with past and present Troop 18 families, Eagle Scouts, Scouts, and Pack 18 families made the day truly special. 

Troop 18 Scouts flew in from as far as Chicago, Utah, and Maryland. It was a full-fledged Troop 18 family reunion with parents, children, and grandchildren from across generations. It was an event not to miss. One of our Eagle Scouts squeezed in a visit before catching his flight out of state to start his new job, and another who couldn't attend in person joined us via video call from Chicago. You can spot him in the 85th Anniversary Eagle Scout photo. Many of our beloved Scoutmasters from 1976 to the present came together to reconnect with the Scouts they guided over the years.

Also in attendance was Peter Deyell, Troop 18 Eagle Scout (14) from 1961. In 1960, just a year after Hawaii became our 50th state, Peter was on hand at Lockheed Air Terminal (now Burbank Airport) to receive the first shipment of 25,000 new 50-star American flags. We were honored to have Kathi Ellis, daughter of Troop 18's founder and first Scoutmaster, George Orrill. Troop 18 was founded in 1941 and is the second oldest active troop in the Valley.

This year, Troop 18 reached our 100th Eagle in April. And just three days after the 85th Anniversary luncheon, two more Scouts earned the rank of Eagle. That brings our total to 102 Eagle Scouts, including our very first female Eagle Scout. Our Troop 18 family continues to grow. 

Whether you were next door or made the trip from out of state, we are truly grateful that you were able to share this special celebration with us.
