About Us

Update: November 9th, 2008

Boy Scout Troop 18 is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Mississippi, and is located within the Andrew Jackson Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

First Presbyterian Church also sponsors Cub Scout Pack 7, and both Troop 18 and Pack 7 are under the oversight of the Scout Committee, a sub-committee of the Christian Education Committee.

At present, we have about 40 active members, and we have an active year-round camping program which includes monthly campouts, a week-long camp opportunity each summer, and regular participation in national events such as Philmont, Northern Tier Canoe Base, Florida Sea Base, and national Jamborees.

The Scouting program is designed to promote character development, citizenship training, and physical fitness. These aims are accomplished through various methods, including ideals (the Scout Oath and Law), uniforms, the patrol method, advancement, outdoor programs, leadership development, opportunities for personal growth, and adult role models.
