AC Unit at Camp Hood
I got a call from some friends at Troop 300 this weekend about some improvements underway at Camp Hood. These guys were tired of having sweat drip into their food on those sweltering days at Summer Camp Hood and have taken it under their collective belts to improve Camp Hood. These guys have bought 4 five ton AC Units for the Dining Hall. That room is very poorly insulated, but with that much kinetic energy they can take it from the usual and customary 95-98 degrees at summer camp and bring the room down to a more bearable 78-82 degrees. In the winter, these units will also heat up the room. Cost is $11k, and they have raised $8k so far. Donations have ranged from $20 to $2,500.
Probably all of you have had, or will have campers at Hood. I would urge you to help our Troop support this worthwhile endeavor. If you feel so led, please send a check payable to “BSA Troop 300” to Donald Petit, 111 Poplar Ridge Drive, Brandon, MS 39047.
Please be sure and write “Troop 18” in the memo section of your check, and again….any amount would be greatly appreciated by the entire Scouting community of the Andrew Jackson Council.
Oh, and by the way……if they raise more than the $11k already spent, 100% of the donated funds will be turned into other visible improvements at Camp Hood.
Thanks for helping us all out!!!!
